P.E.P. Club Parent and child program, is a 60 minute parent and tot preschool enrichment program concentrating on the development of confidence and social skills through music, tumbling, and crafts. Monthly themes are incorporated into the music and craft periods. New tumbling
skills and equipment are introduced throughout the session. Children are placed into age groups based on their ages as of October 1st in hopes of developing friendships for both child and parent that will continue into the school years.
Class time is divided among three activity areas; the music area, the tumbling area, and the craft area. Class begins with circle time where everyone is acknowledged and welcomed by name. Our program activities begin with finger play and songs. To encourage participation and model behavior, the moms sing and play along with their children. Circle time also includes the parachute which is a favorite activity. After shaking up pretend bubbles, going on a ride around the rosie, and identifying the colors in the rainbow, real bubbles fly through the air.
The class moves out to the tumbling area where the children can jump, roll, climb, balance, rock, and just play. Gross motor skills are the key to this portion of the class, yet socialization is also an element. The children learn to take turns, to follow instruction on the equipment, and learn how to play with other children their own age. This is also a time for the moms to socialize.
The craft room is where the children concentrate on their fine motor skills. They make an age appropriate craft that might involve painting, coloring, gluing, or cutting. Throughout P.E.P. classes we praise the PROCESS, not the product. This is particularly true in this segment of our class. Individualized work space is defined which promotes an understanding of mine vs. yours.
After a snack of juice and cookies we return to the music area to sing and tell stories. Your child will develop language skills, rhythm, hand coordination through dramatic puppet play, and just have fun! We conclude the hour with a good-bye song and a special stamp for their hand. It's a fun-filled hour that's sure to delight both you and your child.
Classes are available beginning at 6 months of age
